Welcome to Seattle
The Seattle Host Committee welcomes you to our great city -- and hopes you will find this website a valuable resource in your planning your trip to Seattle. In fact, we hope you'll consider spending the week with us -- whether as a participant or as a fan. Seattle has a lot to offer gay and lesbian visitors -- and you can't beat the atmosphere of a World Series.
Our motto for Series 2008 is "Northwest Quest", which we selected to evoke the great outdoor spirit of our region and reflect the challenge of winning a championship competition.
Hiking and mountaineering are especially popular pastimes in the Northwest. And Mt. Rainier, which is featured in our logo, is the most prominent mountain in the continental United States. It is visible from many places in the area, including Russell Road Park in Kent, the site of championship games for all divisions of play at Series 2008.
A Note To Visitors
Your hosts in Seattle are quite proud of what our home in the Pacific Northwest has to offer -- especially our ideal summer weather -- and we're eager to share all of it with our friends from across North America.
We're also very excited to share with you our sprawling and diverse Capitol Hill neighborhood, which is the hub of gay and lesbian nightlife in Seattle. But no matter where you travel in the area, you'll find a socially progressive atmosphere that few other cities in the United States can offer.
A Note to Seattleites
Whether you're a player or friend of the league, you'll find information on this site about volunteer opportunities. We'll publish more and more volunteer opportunities in the coming weeks, and as we approach Opening Ceremonies on August 25, 2008, you will also find more information about special events and opportunities to mingle with our visitors from across the United States and Canada.
In addition, local businesses looking to get involved with Series 2008 will also find sponsorship information. The Seattle Host Committee is also proudly offering the Series 2008 Gem Club, which is an opportunity for individuals and small businesses to show their support.
